About Us

Our Story

Lulunga Eco Lodge and Farm is rooted in a remarkable story of courage and vision. The lodge stands on a 25-acre piece of ancestral land allocated in the early 1970s to Ms. Annah Naramat Sena by the Ololulunga Land Adjudication Committee. At a time when women were excluded from land ownership in Maasailand, Naramat — a determined single mother of Ogiek heritage who had attended Bible college — persistently challenged the all-male committee until they granted her a parcel of rugged, forested land that no one else wanted. This land, once a rhino breeding ground teeming with wildlife, became her sanctuary.

Over the decades, Ololulunga gradually shifted from wilderness to farmland and, more recently, to an expanding urban center, leading to habitat loss for many species. In 2022, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Naramat’s children envisioned a new future for this heritage land: the creation of an eco-lodge that blends conservation, community, and culture. Half of the parcel was set aside to protect birds and small animals, ensuring that the land’s legacy as a haven for wildlife continues.

The farm borders the Ewaso Ng’iro South River, which originates in the Mau Forest and drains into Lake Natron in Tanzania — the only breeding ground of the lesser flamingo. This riverine connection links Lulunga to one of East Africa’s most critical ecosystems, further underscoring its role in conservation and sustainable land use.

From these origins, Lulunga Eco Lodge and Farm was born from a vision to create a place where people, nature, and culture exist in harmony. Nestled in the scenic landscapes of Narok County, our journey began with a passion for sustainable living, community empowerment, and conservation.

What started as a simple idea — to combine eco-friendly hospitality with agritourism — has grown into a unique destination where guests can experience the beauty of wildlife, the richness of Maasai culture, and the freshness of farm-to-table living.

Every step of our story is guided by a commitment to preserve the environment, celebrate local traditions, and offer authentic experiences that inspire and educate. Today, Lulunga Eco Lodge stands as a sanctuary for travelers seeking more than just a getaway — a place to connect, learn, and live in harmony with nature.
